What is Gower GROUP?
GROUP is an organisation dedicated to inter-reliance and self help.
GROUP. 'Get it together'
GROUP is based on Spring Mills 10 acre site with 180 degree views of the breathtakingly beautiful Lougher Estuary on North Gower. We are an environmental, arts and education organisation dedicated to community involvement, co-operative enterprise and self help.
Group Is co-directed by Jo and Beth Furlong who bought the property in 2007 with the intention of setting up artists studios and raising a family. They now run a performing arts company, a community garden, painting classes and a food storage co-op from the site. They have recovered and reinvented the site from its previous uses as a colliery and an M.O.D training facility.
They have built a low impact home for their three children, a studio where they teach the arts, restored the offices and workshops for local small business lets and redeveloped the industrial landscape to provide an orchard, paddocks, coppice, gardens and wilderness habitats. They generate all their own income and grow the majority of what they consume whilst encouraging others to help themselves by sharing their goals.
